Michael,

This is what I reported to Shaneel and Dil on the 16th re debug messages:
"I am Getting debug MSG that options and returned are undefined in starting mtg and password undefined creating mtg w free version."
And that version is several revisions old now.

Shaneel and Dil are not watching this issue yet, but I am getting a bit reluctant to do further testing as each test requires that I blow away sandbox and start fresh ;=}

Hi All,

Shaneel asked some questions by email. I will answer here to create a record.

I have started studying the feasible options and solutions to fix the single quotes(special character) problems.
Good to hear. You want to be careful that a query cannot be broken and used to alter the DB.

Besides this before proceeding for the formslib approach I would like to know where shall I make this change in our module. Do we have to include some libraries?
Check out http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:lib/formslib.php

Marc has already recommended to stick to standards. I m seeking your valuable and a bit detailed inputs soon.
Indeed.

Many Thanks
You're welcome.

Hi All,

I also noted that the activity does not want to go quietly when I try to remove it from a course page. After I delete the activity and the page reloads, I'm getting errors from course\lib.php and the activity still seems to be there. The errors are...

Notice: Undefined index: 34 in D:\xampplite\htdocs\moodle\course\lib.php on line 1400
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in D:\xampplite\htdocs\moodle\course\lib.php on line 1400

Marc, is that why you felt it damaged your sandpit server?

Michael,

Usage in US is "sandbox", though more often than not it turns into a pit, lol.

I popped an updated version of mod/dimdim in place and unfortunately it resulted in an update of tables (I had been initially advised that there were no table changes I had to worry about within 5.5 and I was simply changing 5.5 files.) As a result the xmldb was corrupted so that now I can't add the module back in and I don;t know that its worth the time to do an autopsy as S&D (shaneel and dil) indicated that they had reproduced the problem and resolved same (in the version, I believe that you were testing). I sent a screen shot to S&D and can post it here as well, but I think that is water over the dam at this point......

I have another sandbox up and will think about doing an install tomorrow.... What is most recent version you tested with, Michael?

There is a version here:
http://download.dimdim.com/download/moodle5.5/Moodle_Dimdim_v5.5_Integration_Module_06192010.zip

Though the last e-mail from Sharma I received asked me to install the version at http://download.dimdim.com/download/moodle5.5/Moodle_Dimdim_v5.5_Integration_Module_06182010.zip, which seems to be the version from the day before....

Browsing the download directory is forbidden.

I did send Sharma an IM pointing him here, and I will try to connect with them tomorrow, but they are +13.5 hrs from me.....

Hello Marc and Michael,

We are collecting all the feedback and we will funnel it in the next revision for Dimdim Moodle integration module for sure.

We will release the current revision of the plugin by this weekend (3rd July).

Besides this, please note that the above mentioned two download locations have only time stamp changes.

Thanks for all your help.

I'm not getting a response from the download server. I would rather see the zip file attached to this issue. Peace - Anthony

Was advised that Shaneel no longer with company and Dilip told me that the project is now in the hands of Pradeep Reddy. Pradeep told me that the current version for testing is at https://dimdim.com/documents/Moodle_Dimdim_v5_5_Integration_Module_06192010.zip . While the URL is a bit diferent than that above, the time stamp is the same as that last offered by Shaneel a month ago (I did confirm with Shaneel that the file with 06182010 and 06192010 were essentially the same file and that we should not test further until the further release expected in July - shaneel confirmed this above.). This July release never materialized.

I have written to all the DimDim folk involved asking them to explain this and am waiting for a response.

Hi folks

I'm still seeing the 'Zombie' Dimdim activity behaviour with the 5.5 7232010 version. i.e. if you delete a Dimdim activity from a course, it initially disappears, then reappears (but is inactive) on the next page refresh.

This is a long standing problem. I have observed the same behaviour with earlier versions of the module (certainly 4.5)

Hi Pradeep,

I had another go at running the module. I was able to get to the stage where I enter the meeting name and time. When I clicked on the "Advanced" link, it opened more settings, but most of them had undefined variable errors in them. I cleaned out the various text boxes that had error values in them and submitted.

I was presented with an SQL error. This was because I included an apostrophe in the meeting name. You should escape the string before using it. When I removed the apostrophe, resolved the SQL error.

I clicked on the link labelled "Click here to Start Meeting", but nothing happened at this point.

One thing I continue to find disturbing is that DimDim's engineers are apparently not seeing any issues on the Moodle in which they ate doing internal testing. Pradeep, what do you think the source of the differences are?

Michael, what is your test env., and if you delete module via moodle admin interface, delete physically, and then add, do you get corrupted xmldb messages.

Hi Marc,

I'm using XAMPP under Windows.

I was able to remove then reinstall the latest version without any problems. I have wiped my web server since the last time I tested DimDim.

Hi Marc,

Could you compile a list of issues that are being faced and send it across to me. We tried to replicate few of them listed here and could not. Please also let me know the steps to reproduce (with OS/browser/version etc), so we could fix them in our upcoming releases.

Also we have quite a few Moodle users who have been successfully using the new Dimdim plugin. So, I want to understand what are all the scenarios where the issues are occurring.

Thanks,
Pradeep

I'm not going to be able to do any of the DimDim testing and am not that interested in it. I am going to resolve this as "Won't fix" but if someone else wants to pick it up and provide comments that is fine. I just know that I am not going to have any time to dedicate to this. Peace - Anthony
