Hi!

We recently upgraded to Moodle 1.8.1. Since then we are having trouble with the assignment module. When a student uploads an assignment, the teacher is suppose to receive an automatic email alert and this isn't happening. However, when the teacher logs into the Moodle site and grades the uploaded assignment, the student does receive an email alert to the grading.

Having said this, when a student uploads an assignment, our cron report reads"

"assignment: ...NOT SUPPORTED (file)"

To me, this seems to be an error and something that could be preventing the automatic email alert to the teacher. We read through similar tracker posts and found that the Moodle 1.8.1 upgrade was suppose to include a patch to fix this problem, but it still doesn't seem to be working for us. In my opinion, if this module isn't supported, as pointed out above, this might be our problem.

Does anyone no anything about these errors in the cron? Considering the assignment module is 'core' module of the base Moodle package, I hope someone can offer further insight on this problem. It is extremely critical for our teachers to receive automatic email alerts to assign versuses having to login to the actual Moodle site periodically throughout each day.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cindy

Assignment 1: The Case for Teaching Democracy Appreciation

This assignment is one of twenty and they are all formatted the same. When you browser to upload an assignment, the work uploads, but the teacher doesn't receive an e-mail alert that the assignment was uploaded. However, when an assignment has been uploaded, the cron report for the assignment module shows no activity.

Using Assignment 1 as an example, you will see several assignments uploaded and even a response from the teacher in this assignment. When the teacher grades the work, the students receive the email alert, but the only way a teacher knows if an assignment has been uploaded is by logging into the course site each day.

All of the assignments allow advanced uploading of files with the maximum of 10 files. They allow deleting, note, and emails sent to teachers is selected. Under common module settings, the assignments uses no groups and is set to visible.

If you need anything else, please let me know.

Thanks!

Cindy
