This would be especially helpful if the instructor has selected "Force Download" for the resource (which I suggest to all my instructors - makes the file appear faster) since the summary material is never shown. With more instructors posting journal articles and chapters online for students to read, it is important for the students to know the original source of the document.

We're in the process of migrating from Blackboard to Moodle, and I'm very surprised to see that this feature (displaying the summary next to the content itself in course-view) does not exist! It's standard in Blackboard...

I'd go as far as to describe this as a bug, especially when using the Link resource because the summary generally doesn't get displayed at all, it is content just lost in the ether. Of course you can work round it using labels, but it shouldn't be necessary - I can't fathom what purpose the Summary field could have if it's not to go on the course page, if you don't want it displayed there then put the content in the main content area for the resource!
