In branch MOODLE_17_STABLE, tag MOODLE_173, the version.php file has still 1.7.2+ as human-friendly version name. Should be

$release = '1.7.3 +'; // Human-friendly version name

Dang it. It was OK in the packages but I'd forgotten to check in the changed files. Fixed now, thanks!
