 Description  « Hide
If a PowerPoint file is uploaded as a resource for a course, it should open when clicked on, and 'open' is chosen. However, instead of the PowerPoint file opening, "index.php" opens in PowerPoint.

If you save the file and then view it, it opens okay.

The problem occurs when using Internet Explorer 6 or 7, and if the file has been created in PowerPoint 2003 or 2007. However, it only occurs if Office 2007 is installed on the computer viewing the file (i.e. it doesn't happen if Office 2003 is installed).

This makes me think the problem is with PowerPoint 2007, however I have no problem viewing PowerPoint files on other web sites. So maybe it is a Moodle/PowerPoint issue.

The problem does not happen in Firefox.

Any help would be most appreciated.

We are having exactly the same issue here.

Seems to me that Power Point 2007 is trying to download the file itself and being redirected to moodle login page. Perhaps, Power Point (or the 'Microsoft Office Existence Discovery' seen in our apache logs) is not sending moodle cookies... i don't know (not sniffed the traffic yet). However word documents are opened ok... :-S

Thanks for the detailed info in report.

After months of frustration I can report that installing SP1 for Office2007 resolves the issue of Powerpoint files not opening from moodle with no content. April 2008
