As far as I can tell, front page restore doesn't work - there is no way to restore the front page course to the front page!

Only lets you restore to a new course.

Workaround is to restore and change SITEID (set category to 0 and rebuild context paths/depths), right?

Hmmmmmm. One of our users just screwed up whole front page by restoring something dodgy there.

This should be fixed now. When restoring courses from within the SITE admin->frontpage restore, "current deleting" and "current adding" are displayed. That way, restore can happen for SITE courses.

Note I've fixed this from an interface point of view only, I've restored some simple courses and more or less they have worked (although I've got some notices/warnings). I'll try to handle them in the next days, while implementing blogs restore (MDL-9089).

So resolving this... ciao

I tested this, but only partially I'm afraid. It works well when restoring over the current system, to go back to a previous state.

New problem however... When trying to restore to a new site, I get a message stating: "This backup file contains external Moodle Network Hosts that are not configured locally." This is true, but nonetheless, it's a bit of a problem as the process just stops there. Should this be a new bug? How do hosts using moodlenet should deal with backups & restore?
