Moodle

I would like to see all their grades in one place too. tI would also like to have it viewable by parents of Mentees on their my moodle page. I tried downloading the add-on 'All my Grades' but could not get it to work. It sounds like others have made that work so perhaps this is a feature that could be built into moodle 2.0? Thanks

This seems like the same thing as MDL-12874 so please vote for that one too. Perhaps they can be consolidated into one request.

The idea of having a grade report in the user profile showing the final grade from all courses (i.e. similar to a report card or transcript) is a common one. This issue seems to duplicate the request made in MDL-12874. Peace - Anthony

I have been delving into the issue of either resurrecting the original Transcripts module, or beginning again.
One College in the US did look as if it would offer some support for me doing so, but the climate is such that now I think if there is to be support it will come from a College in the UK - or perhaps from more than one such.
Is there a clear intention of getting this into the Core, or will it be more expedient to make the external mod work again with 1.9+ and 2.0?
Is there any copyright issue to be concerned about here (noting that the original writer / maintainer no longer has a presence here)?

In Moodle 1.9 there is the "Overview" report in the gradebook which does show all the grades for the current user (ie it's for students to see their own transcript).

It could be added to their user profile, but we'll probably need a new capability that you'd add to a site-wide role to enable it. Because obviously not every teacher should see a users grades from all their other courses.

A much better solution is coming in Moodle 2.0, see http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:Progress_tracking and please add your comments there about problems or things you see missing.

re-reading your post I see a new add on and creative solution might work for you (but not me). Assuming your OSHA courses must all be completed by your students you could do one of two solutions:

1. Use this new add on, subcourse, at http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=1775&filter=1
With this add on you can create one overview course where all grades from required OSHA course are ported into your overview course using the subcourse add on

or (not sure on this one)
2. use matacourses: make all required courses metacourses and make one overview course they log into. the overview course should show their progress from all metacourses although I don't know if it will catagorize them or lump all tests together etc. Here's the link where I'm thinking of scenario 2 at metacourses: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Metacourses

Hello all! Last October Matt Campbell posted a small hack: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=82574 that does much of what is being discussed here (if not all), and it did not require any settings changes, new capabilities or modifications (except adding the lines in course/user.php, which in Moodle 1.9.3 begins around line 126ish)

I believe it does add the overview to the profile, as Martin mentions, but only for users who already have rights to view all a student's activities (mentors, students, admin). I just tried several different ways, (using both forced and disabled My Moodle settings) to access all course grades as teacher, and I can not.

I don't know if it's my particular environment settings, or how I initially defined teacher roles (though it's nothing out of the ordinary), but even using this hack, teachers can only access or see a student's grades for the courses they teach regardless of where they are or how they navigate to a profile.

I'm aware of several users who have used Matt's code, and it's well-received, very simple and very effective. Now...if we can just retain grade information once the student is un-enrolled...(Progress Tracking looks good !)

I am already using the hack suggested by Sharon. What I do need though is the possibility for administrators to access a "global" list of all students and their summed up grade for each course. Would this "global grade export" require a hack?

Felix - In CONTRIB there is a new admin reporting function that allows for a special queries to be created and run. This may be a way to generate the type of list you are thinking of. Is this still be looked at? Could we see this implemented before 2.0?

Chris - I'm in the midst of class, so not really thinking deeply on the issue, but I just wonder if there might be a grade report developed (if one has not already been) that would show the details of all. I'm not sure if anything has been added to contrib but it may be worth checking. I have a vague recollection of some talk of something like this - I just don't know if it was an idea or something actually done. Peace - Anthony

If you are wanting the title of this tracker to allow a single student to see all their grades, there are a few solutions already. I've tried two and I really like this one most: http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-12874 . It allows students and parents to see all their final grades only in one place when you click their name and then activity report and then grades. I also tried certificates and site wide certificates. It's ok and the certificates are cool for students to see but I feel 12874 is better. I'm still trying to install global grades for admins to see all students and have resorted to writing a mysql query which is 90% working for me. Good luck, James
