Description

Not sure if Moodle ever want to implement this but to me I think this make better sense from usability perspective. When you delete a entire course category (say Summer 2005), currently it will prompt you for "confirmation" (see screenshot), then after you click on "Yes" button it will just move all the courses under that category into the parent category if there is one, or into "Miscellaneous." Ideally, there should be a option here on this screen to allow admin to really delete all the courses under that course category. Just my 2c.

With a couple of layers of confirmation for safety (Are you sure? Are you sure you're sure?) , this would be a handy option.

Hasn't this been fixed already? When I delete a category, there is an option to either "move" or "delete" the courses inside it, and when choosing delete no confirmation message is shown. Am I missing something?

Laia - I agree this issue seems to be fixed in 1.9. If anything, I would want a confirmation that the user understands that they are deleting not only the category but also the courses. It it nice enough to tell you that you have deleted the courses; however, a warning would be nice. What are the guidelines for determining when a confirmation is merited? Another random thing that stood out to me as that the backup and restore icons do not seem to be intuitively clear to me. I'm not sure why a white box means backup and a blue box means restore (or was it the other way around). Are there more universal icons for backup and restore. Also, it might be good to look at all of the icons we are using. Are there more universally accepted icons for the functions we use. What are the functions that we use icons for? Having a list of them would be helpful as well as where they are used. Peace - Anthony

This issue was resolved by MDL-14378 and fixed for 1.9.1
