Description

Availability of zip/unzip not checked during the installation, but it's required when making backup.

in admin > server > system paths >you can specify an external zip library when using linux based servers.... so Zip is only "required" for windows based installs. - might be worthwhile displaying a warning though?

But availability of zip/unzip isn't ever required to be checked because those libraries are bundled with Moodle, so all Moodle servers are able to zip/unzip contents.

Another thing is the "extra" feature of being able to use zip & unzip binaries.

But, in any case, I cannot find any reason to check for zip support in installer. Moodle provides it internally.

Or am I missing anything?

pclzip needs zlib extension - this should be in standard distributions, but unfortunately some allow you to remove it
