I have already written some basic info about the state of module in each README.txt - please update it with more info if needed too.

exercise - hopeless, never supported in fact

workshop - sort of works, should be replaced by something else in core; if new maintainer found can live happily in contrib

journal - works, does not require much work, still has a bright future ahead in contrib

lams - no comment

Helen, my +1 for your idea. Anyway, perhaps Martin want to do that in an alternative way, to "promote" the idea of maintainers needed and so... so I'd leave them to decide.
