I've had a number of requests from people for a feature such as this. Adding the ability and choice to send a notification email to the student as well as the teacher would be extremely useful!
This would be great for Moodle 1.9+, especially as we move into Moodle 2.0 and having a standard Turnitin integration. Our plans to implement Turnitin within 1.9+ are certainly driving teachers and students to use the assignment module - many of whom are not particularly computer literate and do not "trust" the system.
Hi David and others. In November 2007 Waikato University contracted Catalyst IT to enhance the assignment submission module to meet our requirements for bulk-downloads, generation of a coversheet for printing purposes, and generation of receipts for the file submitted by the student which is emailed to them to keep as a record.
We have a ZIP file on our website following which contains the changes as a diff and some additional files which are part of our customisation. We cant help you deploy this in your installation at this time but you may find this approach useful, especially if you can remove the bulk-downloading if not required. Thanks for the link Dean. We're going to install it and give it a go. This feature should be a relatively straight forward addition since the function already exists for the Teachers Role. I mentioned it to one of the devs at the UK Moot and he agreed it shouldn't take much to implement. But I guess the lack of votes on this means its not of interest to many. Shame as it would save a lot of extra work and improve the overall experience of the system for the user. |
