Description

Students today tell me that some assignments and activities do not show the send button. They would like to see at the botton of all their work a send to teacher or submit button to confirm they have sent their materials. eg the new text activity does not give this option and thus they are not sure if it has gone., even though they can see the work on the screen.
In most upload or sumit on line forms there is a reply that says" thankyou for your submission" our company appreciates your submission. " Maybe the reply to all activities uploaded could say" thankyou for your submission" please print this screen to confirm that you have submitted your task. If you do not wish to print this page please return to the course outline by clicking "here" . Or click here to see your grades table showing your submission.

Thanks

This shows how an assignment looks without a "Submit" button for a student after uploading a file.

I think this is not a "New Feature" as much as it may be an oversight that needs to be discussed and fixed.

IMO, students expect to submit files as assignments in a 2-step process: upload file, submit file. While the 1-step version as it stands now is easier, it doesn't give users control over when the instructor can see the submission. In a multi-file assignment this may be particularly important, as a student might upload 1 or more files at a time, intending to submit the rest later. To the instructor, even 1 file uploaded looks like a "submission" and can be graded--perhaps prematurely!
