Hello Eloy,
One of our clients relies quite heavily on the backup restore process to create multiple runs of a single course. While testing their setup we have found out that the grade category information does not seem to be kept. This is a pity as all of their courses use at least two categories one of which does not count towards the course total.
Is this a known problem (I couldn't find it in the tracker) and is this something that could/will be fixed in the near future?

Did you try latest 1.9.2? There were some fixes recently done in this area.
Also the categories are restored only if all all activities are selected.
