Description
- Summary
Some of our users are receiving multiple copies of forum posts. This happens with some email addresses but not others.
- Description (a concise yet complete summary of the problem or improvement)
When our users -both teachers and students - post to any forum, some users will be emailed multiple copies of the post. This happens with some addresses, but not with others. The address type and role do not seem to make a difference. For example, I have 4 accounts set up. Two of them (a gmail account and a .edu account) will receive only one email per post. My Yahoo and .Mac email addresses receive 2-3 copies.
I posted to the forum but received no response.
- Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit http://www.cssis.org/Web20Challenge
2. Click the link to enter the Web 2.0 Challenge course
3. Login as Moodle Tracker (moodletracker/M00dleT3st)
4. Change the email address to what ever would be best for this test.
5. Enter a forum (the Facilitators forum would be the best place to test).
6. Post a message.
7. Some users will receive 2-3copies of the post.
- Actual Results: What the application did after performing the above steps.
Some users receive more than one copy of a post.
- Expected Results: What the application should have done, were the bug not present. Provide as much detail as possible. Your expectation might mean that help instructions need to be improved or interface changed.
Each user should receive one copy of each post from forums they've subscribed to.
If possible, include additional information that may be helpful to the developer:
- Moodle version (there is a dropdown menu on the top of the form, if that does not have what you want, add it in the description)
1.9.2. This happened in 1.9, too.

We are having the same problem over at http://groups.edna.edu.au
It is not consistent and I'm darned if I can find a pattern. We're running 1.9.3
