Login redirect fails when the URL is a direct link to a Moodle hosted file

Description

If you provide (in an email say) a direct URL link to a course or resource/activity within that course that requires a login, the user will be asked to login then redirected to their original destination.

This does not happen when you provide a direct link to a file hosted within a course file area e.g. http://moodle.example.com/file.php/123/Example.pdf

Instead users are dropped at the root/front page of the Moodle site.

Yes, this is the result of recent workaround that partially solved the problem when people inserted images into course introductions,
this will be fixed properly in 2.0.

Thanks for reporting this issue.

We have detected that this issue has been inactive for over a year has been recorded as affecting versions that are no longer supported.

If you believe that this issue is still relevant to current versions (2.1 and beyond), please comment on the issue. Issues left inactive for a further month will be closed.
