Description

Hello,

I am running Moodle 1.9.2+ (build 20080827) and did backup several courses for exchange with another (1.9.1+) Moodle system.

If I try to restore these courses in older Moodle versions 1.9 or 1.9.1, I get the following error and the restore stops:
Fatal error: Class 'message' not found in /mymoodledomain/moodle/backup/restorelib.php on line 7338
(error message from 1.9.1+ build 20080625, with 1.9+ it was the same error but other line)

I already noticed this thread (http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=99338) on moodle.org and also this tracker message (http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-15282), but I think that the problem has not been solved yet.

There should be at least a backwards compatibility with backup/restore within the same major version (so within 1.9.x) so that exchange is easily possible.

Regards, Daniel

Hello,

the backups guaranteed to be working only in newer versions. Usually the backups work throughout the stable branch too, but if there are some major bugs in backup/restore code we can not guarantee that, which is exactly the case of 1.9.0 and 1.9.1

Please note that it is highly recommended to upgrade to latest 1.9.x release (either full release or weekly build).
