If you are editing the category description then you need to switch back out of edit mode in order to see the change. This can be annoying if you are trying to achieve some visual effect. Changing the edit screen to slightly better mirror the non-editing screen would be a nice improvement i.e put the description above the list of sub-categories and courses.
