Description

We create a lot of e-learning modules for our clients. These are created as SCORM packages which are played in Moodle. All our SCORM packages have their own menu and open full screen in a new window. When our customers are finished with the SCORM package it is closed but then they reach the empty SCORM module screen on which they have to click "Exit activity" to bring them back to the course page (see attachment).

I understand that this makes sense for SCORM packages which use a menu, but it is very confusing for our customers. I am quite sure there must be other companies with the same problem.

It would be great if the SCORM module would automatically go back to the course page when the SCORM package is finished playing and closed down. Would there be a way of realising this? Could it be a configurable setting?

Hi Hans,

This is really only behaviour of Scorm packages that use the new window right?

The player functions a lot better in the newer versions of 1.9stable and 1.8stable - have you looked at how the player behaves in the standard view now? - you may find that you can get it to display well without needing to open in a new window.

Hello Dan,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have take another good look at the SCORM packages that we produce and I see that we actually have them set to stay in the current window, but then the SCORM package itself opens a new window (using some javascripts) which has a particular size (often full screen). I guess this implies that it won't be possible for Moodle to know when that screen gets closed as the SCORM package is still running.

I will check with our SCORM programmers and take a good look at what exactly happens with our packages. I will close the issue for now and will reopen it when it makes sense.

Kind regards,

Hans

We will do some more research before (maybe) reopening this issue.
