I have a lot of local/ hooks which Martin said I could commit as long as I documented everything. This is the meta bug to track all local/ hooks.

hopefully everything should be in place and tested, please file new issues is something more is necessary.
I have moved one issue to the backup meta bug because it seem better please, adding link
If anybody needs this functionality in 1.9.x please apply the patches submitted by penny, but please be prepared to update your /local/ BEFORE the 2.0 upgrade
