MDL-15623 is marked as not a bug, though the reporter tried to reopen. A browser timeout causes the behaviour reported and still occurs in 1.9.3. The patches attached to MDL-15623 may be outdated, but the solution is to send some text to the browser after each grade migration to prevent timeouts.

Tested and works on our site with 117k quiz grades and 38k assignment submissions.

We have detected that this issue has been inactive for over a year has been recorded as affecting versions that are no longer supported.
