Description
It would be really useful to have optional fields on the course setup page, just like the optional user profile fields.
Example: It would be useful for us to record the College's department (e.g. "Creative Arts") and section (e.g. "Dance" or "Fine Art") with a course. We have maybe 5 or 6 departments and 40-odd sections encompassing 700+ courses.
We do already use categories, but these are 35+ student-friendly categories so that a student can easily locate a course, but these categories have little in common with our corporate structure.
I'm not suggesting hard-coded fields, but something more customisable, just like the optional user profiles.

This would be extremely helpful for reporting. For example, we run summer workshops for faculty & staff. These workshops include: Name(s) of presenters, building & room (# or description), Start & End time, CPDUs (continuing education credits), stipend amount. We are required to generate a report for the administration on who in their departments have registered and for which workshop using the above fields. Custom fields would allow us more flexible reporting.
