Description
In WebCt we had the ability to enter "short assignment" and "full assignment" names of any item that was displayed in the Gradebook. The short assignment names showed up in the instructor's view of the gradebook and I guess could also show up in the student view as well and the full view showed up in the course itself. Since the student grader view is now displayed vertically this is not an issue for the students but if we could have a "short name" that could be attached to an assignment this would cut down on the scrolling and make the "grader view" a lot nicer.

I agree that providing the option of short activity name and full activitiy name would cut down on scrolling and make working in grader view nicer. The "full activity name" should appear on the course page and in the user report since this is what students will see. The long name does not create a problem in the user view since activities are displayed vertically . Since the "short activity name" would only need to be understood by the teacher, the teacher could make it as cryptic as he/she wants.
