Hi Angelo,

in the past have been more request like this (about what to do on restore with sections and with other course settings). While I think it could be considered for 2.0 (low priority in any case) I'm 99% sure what we won't implement all those new settings in 1.9 at all, keeping the "don't overwrite existing data" approach (in this case, course settings) as the valid one, mainly because it's far more complex to add such setting to the backup/restore process than, simply, adjust them once restore has finished.

The only way to bring previous settings is to restore to new course, then there aren't existing data so configuration from backup file will be fully restored (including all those settings).

So... I'm going to close this as won't fix.

Thanks and ciao

Hi Angelo, sure. Any help will be welcome. I have plans to start designing/implementing backup 2.0 in 2 weeks or so (restore will come later). But, definitively, you are welcome! Thanks in advance.

Stay tuned when development plan is documented (http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:Backup_2.0) in order to get details like this included.
