Description

On several different occasions, I've had to abandon activities using the wiki when working with groups of Mac users in a workshop setting due to pages not saving properly.

Specifically, the wiki is set to Type: student and Groups: Visible groups. As users save their wiki page, the process stalls and the browser has to be closed and restarted to return to work in Moodle. In most cases, the data was actually saved in the wiki; the process just isn't able to complete the reload of the page.

The users are using Firefox.

I complete this same activity with groups of Windows users often without issue.

I've found this issue referenced in several forum posts over the last few years in the community forums without suggestions for resolution.

This has been an ongoing problem for a client of mine over the last 6 months. They are using a wiki for a fairly complex 4 part writing project. The wiki is configured in multiple columns for the student to fill out and the last column is for the instructor to leave comments and notes about the progress of the project.

The instructors are using Firefox on Macintosh computers with I believe OSX 10.4 on a 1.9.5 install. Nearly every time they work on responses to students, the wiki hangs on submit, as pointed out by Michelle above, requiring a complete restart of the browser. Data is saved but the page in the browser is never refreshed, hence the restart of the browser. This is a critical issue as they are working with many health care employees on a daily basis and this is making it very difficult for them to provide feedback on the progress of each student's project. Additionally, it could potentially sour them on the use of Moodle with their next cadre of students. It does appear that they don't have the same kinds of issues on their old Windows computers.
