I have quite a few clients with large courses - double digit numbers of topics, each with numerous resources, leading to a scroll of death and a longer than necessary initial course load time until they click the topic focus button and collapse the whole thing down. Was thinking it would be great in the course settings (or perhaps as a setting against a topic) to be able to load only a single topic when a user first logs in to the course. Would make the initial experience in a course faster, simpler, and perhaps even get around needing to have 'stealth resources' as such a priority. Just a thought.
Mark, thanks for your suggested improvement. Just wondering whether you've come across the Timeline course format http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=2635 ? Only the most recent sections are displayed on the course page, with older sections available on a separate page. Could this format be modified to meet your clients requirements?
