Description

Problem :

If we have a course with large size of resources related to it like graphics and video media backing up the course chokes up the system immediately when backing up multiple courses at a time,

Actual Behaviour :

The user is left with no choice than uploading the same content in all courses if he needs that video or graphical content in those courses,

Expected Behaviour :

Moodle "Site files" should have an option something like "Global Folder" whereas the contents we upload in that folder is accessible to all the courses in the site.

This is already fixed in 2.0dev, file duplicates do not take any extra space.
Please note that sharing stuff in site files is not recommended because there is no access control there.

The latest update to the recently released MrCUTE Jr. Shared URL/File repository plugin can provide this functionality for Moodle 1.9.5.

I just did a cvs commit earlier this evening which brings the plugin to a point where files are stored outside of site files and are only viewable by students when the student is enrolled in a course & a link to the shared resource exists inside that course.
