Dropped students still receive forum subscriptions from the dropped course

Description

Hello,

We're having the following problem:

A student is unenrolled from a course, but the student keeps receiving emails due to prior forum subscription in the course - in particular, the news forum. There is no way to selectively remove a student from a forced news forum subscription. So, it is expected that once the student is removed from the course, the subscriptions should end for that course.

How do we make this happen? I did not find any other reports of this in my search of moodle.org - but if this is already posted, I'd be happy to cross-reference with it or move the conversation over there..

I believe this issue is still ongoing - and I can't find the link to the new ticket it was mentioned would be opened...

This issue seems to be a duplicate of MDL-11646 which was closed on 16/Apr/08.

The issue was certainly fixed for moodle.org and there have been no further reports of problems until now.

Mary, please could you let us know whether you have recently upgraded your site, and if so, from which version? Also, have you tried resetting your roles to default?

Hello Helen,

Thank you for responding. Hmm...we upgraded to Moodle version 1.9.5 (Build: 20090518) the weekend of August 2nd. Our version prior to this was Moodle 1.9.4+ (Build: 20090129).
