Description
We tested a Moodle multiple-choice quiz today using the Kurzweil version 11 software on a PC running Win XP.
Our tests:
Student user profile set to screenreader - YES.
Quiz: 25 question Mulitple Choice quiz; all questions shown on one page; time limit 30 minutes: - version 1 - with security set to NO; version 2 - with security set to YES
Test 1: Internet Explorer 8 with Quiz Version 1 (No security)
- Kurzweil failed to properly read the page - the highlighting/tracking feature with read aloud would lose the highlighting at about the 4th question on the page and then it would restart at the top of the page. There were no weird formatting errors with the question - no images, no funky html.
Test 2: Internet Explorer 8 with Quiz Version 2 (Secure mode)
- Kurzweil could not read the page at all - the software would not work in the pop-out window.
Test 3: Firefox 3 with Quiz Version 1 (No security)
- Same results as for IE 8 test (Kurzweil failed to properly read the page - the highlighting/tracking feature with read aloud would lose the highlighting at about the 4th question on the page and then it would restart at the top of the page. There were no weird formatting errors with the question - no images, no funky html.)
Test 4: Firefox 3 with Quiz Version 2 (Security)
- Same results as for IE 8 test (Kurzweil could not read the page at all - the software would not work in the pop-out window.)
---------
This is a problem for blind students.
---------
We had to switch to using ZoomText with App Reader turned on in order for the software to recognize the text at the cursor and read aloud with words highlighted.
ZoomText worked in both secure and un-secure quiz modes.
