Description
Each course with forums has a page listing all forums. The forums list is a table with four columns:
- Forum
- Description
- Discussions
- Subscribed
The "Subscribed" column contains either the word "Yes" or a button labeled "No." These labels are context-free (aside from the table header which the blind user must memorize), and difficult to use.
Why it matters
Blind users searching for forums are as likely to land on this page as on the home page for a specific forum. Also, this is the only page which shows forum activity and subscription status for all forums in the course.
Possible solution
For each forum, provide a set of controls. Either:
- "You are subscribed" text with a link to "Unsubscribe."
- or, "You are not subscribed" text with a link to "Subscribe."
In 2.0, a page listing all forums contains 3 columns: Forum, Description, and Discussion. In this page, user has the capability to 'subscribe to all forums' or 'unsubscribe from all forums'.
In order to subscribe or unsubscribe from a forum, user must select the specific forum and change the setting (forum administration) on the left navigation. if the user is already subscribe to the forum, the unsubscribe link will be display, and if the user has not subscribe to the forum, the subscribe link will be display.
