missing mod/assignment permissions - students can't view assignments

Description

I backed up/restored courses into a new Moodle. Now students can not view assignments (teachers were having issues viewing assignments as well).

I don't think it has to do with backup/restore because I created a brand new course, used a newly created user and added a new upload an assignment. I am still getting an error message when clicking on the assignment link as a student:

"Sorry, but you do not currently have permissions to do that (View assignment)

It looks like this is a bug - check out this thread: http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=130179

It looks like the mod/assignment permissions are missing in version 1.9.5+

That is why users can can view assignments and only admins can I think.

I have not seen any temporary work around or patch.

Hi Melissa,

I'm not able to produce the issue.
I installed fresh version for 1.9.5 and 1.96. I'm able to view the 'Assignment' section.
