Description

When trying to edit a page containing a image with Image map, the image map coordinates entries are cleared upon save. IE6, WinXP Sp2 Pro. The same does not happens using Firefox 1.0.1 under the same environment.

To test, first create a web page resource using Firefox:

1. load an image, create a web page resource and put in the image just uploaded

2. Manually create an image Map in switching to HTML view mode, then add some text in the page

3. Save the page and test the image map

4. Now open the very same page with IE6, click update resource and edit the text (even in WYSIWYG mode)

5. save the page.

6. The Map coordinates are cleared.

The discussion at http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=86400 gives a workaround. The plugin http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=977 might also be useful for some people.

Thanks for the update and pointing to the workaround. However, should also be noted that "iframe" tag produces a not XHTML Strict compliant page.

Who was it that decided that the importance of this bug is "trivial" ? I will admit that it isn't critical for the operation of the software as a whole, but image maps are an HTML function that has huge use in training, and myself and others have now butted up against this. this should be somewhere less than critical and more than trivial.

Well, I don't know why this is assigned to me (one person not having IE at all), hehe.

But I agree this could be a severe problem, more if that annoying behaviour is also de cause of MDL-18799 (where all the links to inserted images become "corrupted" with encoded slashes).

Note that MDL-18799 is currently under test/research and it's backup/restore focussed. But it's an awful one if finally we get confirmation about IE+HTML Editor being the culprit.

Ciao
