Description

Replace 'Link to a file or web site' with

Link to a file

Link to a web page

The latter I suggest to refer to web page not web site since that is what the links are. Even using a generic site address, we really link to their default page.

I found that a number of our instructors are somehow confused by the dual function of the 'Link to a file or web site' resource. I understand that under the hood they nicely share the same code, but I submit to present them to users as two different resources.

They are in fact different. One refers a file that had to be uploaded to local server, so it is functionally similar to 'display directory'. Another refers to a web page somewhere in the world.

This split would allow for improved verification of input (cf MDL-3558) and adding control of the icons (bug 3338).

The file resource could display file size and last update date in parallel to what display a directory resource does. This is often important to students (since files are often updated in the course of semester) but instructors notoriously forget to add it manually.
