This seems to have been implemented in 1.6, but there are a couple problems with it. Number 1 is that if messaging is not enabled on the site, the email that is sent out contains a link to the messaging function on the site, which leads to a page that says messaging isn't enabled on the site.
Secondly, if this feature is used, it would be nice if the teacher was able to specify a subject for the email, rather than the subject be the first few words of the message.
