Description

This has been mentioned many times, but I could not find an existing bug/request for it.

Many users of moodle in school environemnts would appreciate the ability to either have a course reset button located in course settings or possibly a site reset located in admin.

The role of the reset would be to unenrol all students from the course and remove all traces of their previous passage so as to allow for the course to restart fresh with new students the following year.

Reset would have to include:

  • Removal of forum posts
  • Emptying student data out of all modules
  • Deleting uploaded student files (assignments, etc)
  • Deletion of comments in modules
  • I am sure there is much more

The current system of backup/restore is not viable when the whole site needs to be reset for a new school year. A reset like this would add much needed functionality to this process.

I have added a URL to a forum post discussing this option.

We are working currently on this, at ULPGC.
We want to upgrade our site from 1.5 to 1.6.2 and apply "reset" to do as asked: preserve teacher content and remove any trace of students.
We want to have the script ready by mid September. I will keep you informed.

If this is a general feature request for this feature, then maybe this bug could be marked as resolved? (as MDL-1659 is, also)

Then more specific bugs should be/have been filed for "forum subscriptions are not cleaned up" etc.

Petr,

Does this mean no bug fixes for 1.7?

I've noticed in 1.7 that when using the reset function it reports all students and teachers are removed (under roles everything shows 0); however, when viewing participants names are still listed (as teachers as defined as course creators in the main role admin area)
