Add searching and/or list display of all events in Calendar

Description

Calendar Search:

Need to be able to search claendar events (mdl_events) based on text segment of description.

output should be a compact list of dates:

Date/ Time/ Description

This feature (if allowed a wild card or all records option) woudl also address the need for a list output from the calendar.

List would be acceptable if it delivered ONLY current course events.

List would be great if it included all events for that user i.e. site PLUS any courses enrolled (kust as calendar displays)

Changes:
Select a month from current year to jump to
Select event types as normal but from drop down list to save space
Add subtract courses to display (or just one course OR all courses as at present)
Select format for display -
Month grid (as at present - although would like the ability to change the rather garish and print unfriendly colours)
Month List
need to display each day ONCE, then
Hours, Title and duration
NOT description as this could be enormous due to ability to embed HTML in event descriptions. We currently place long agendas in this section)
Day List
Hours, Title, Duration highlighted in in first line, then
Description below
Select List Range
As for month format BUT with ability to select a date range
Need display to be as space free as possible to minimise reformatting for printout (many date displays have far too much white space and extra line breaks for me

This issue is NOT trivial.
Inability to display calendar as list OR to search for calendar events is severe limitation on calendar utility.

School calendar lists are common practice.
Moodle cannot provide them leading to pressure to use alternate calendar product (such as google calendar)

Large calendars mean that events are harder to locate. Simple queries like: when are the school council meeeting scehduled this year cannot be answered from moodle without manually scanning all calendar months.

Happy to pay to fast track this important issue.

The calendar is the component that causes the most dissatisfaction at my school.
No search for events - how do i know what is on ?
No list display so can't generate reference list for studnets in my course or for the school.
No effective export (can never get iCal export to work???)

Any progress ?
