Description

Some quiz results are coming up as 0 even though marks are being scored on questions in the quiz.

The quizzes that are being scored as 0 are those which seem to be taking longer than the specified time for the quiz (10 minute limit – the quizzes in question took 10:40 and 10:33).

From Gustav Delius (gwd2 at york.ac.uk) Tuesday, 16 May 2006, 05:28 AM:

This is what the time limit is supposed to do: students who submit after the time limit get no marks. The quiz module however still records the student answers and marks them so that the teacher can relax the time limit if he likes.

I think it will be difficult to have a consensus among all teachers what should be done to students who fail to submit within the time limit. But it might be worth discussing it on the forums.

From Philip Norton (philip at bridgehouse.org.za) Tuesday, 23 May 2006, 02:38 AM:

An option to allow the score is needed without having to adjust the time limit on the test.

In other words, if the quiz goes over, then the student is given 0 until such time as the teacher can approve the result that they scored. By having to adjust the time limit of the quiz, a teacher may forget to reset the limit at the next time the course is run, resulting in a perpetually longer test in courses that recurr frequently, or have staggered admissions and progression.
