Description

When students link to student profiles from the front page of the Moodle site, they receive the message: "The details of this user are not available to you."

I have tried various combinations in the Configuration settings and according to the descriptions it seems that the following should allow the students to see the profiles of other students:
allsiteusersarestudents: Yes
showsiteparticipantslist: Yes
forceloginforprofiles: No

The only setting change that does allow students to see the profiles of other students is to set forceloginforprofiles to Yes, but that allows everyone (logged in or not) access to the profiles.

I have searched for a solution to this issue in the discussion forums and found it presented a number of times in various forms, but no one seems to have a real solution aside from some customization--yet, it does seem that the settings (as described) should make this possible.

Michelle - please indicate in which version of Moodle the problem has been found by completing the field 'Affects Version'. This field should always be completed when a bug is first logged. See http://docs.moodle.org/en/Tracker for complete instructions on using Tracker.

Thanks.

Sorry about that Michael-I wasn't sure if the issue started with 1.6, but I do know that the issue affects 1.6.2. Also, I tried to find this information in the link you provided, but I couldn't find how to edit my report to add the version-am I missing something?

Hello all,

I'm using Moodle 1.7.2

My problem is the same as above.

If I tick the - forceloginforprofiles - box. This results in all profiles being inaccessible to all users, regardless of status.

If I untick the - forceloginforprofiles - box. All profiles are available to all users, regardless of status. This access includes forum posts and private blogs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..best...janet
