Moodle

It seems that group mode is not yet (fully?) implemented in Metacourses. I would appreciate very much this feature. An extension of "separate group mode" on all ressources and activities would add even more usability for moodle use in multiclass-multiteac

Description

We use Moodle at a secondary level school in Switzerland in a blended learning context. Each teacher gets assigned aautomatically one course for all of his/her classes (which can be as much as 8 or 9). To better manage the activities for different classes an improvement of the group mode:

  • extension to activities and ressources
    -full implementation for Metacourses
-complete separation of groups (no visibility of activities/ressources of other groups)

would add a huge plus in usability of Moodle for this context.

Laia - I think it would be helpful to prepare a listing of the various resource and activities and compare how groups are either relevant or not for each of them. Again the goal is for consistency but I think having a clearer idea of what we mean by separate, visible, and no groups would be helpful and give developers of modules and resources a clear idea of what functionality they need to consider when preparing to make use of groups. Some questions include: Are there activities that do not use groups? Do we use the concept consistently across the various activities? Peace - Anthony

In this page http://docs.moodle.org/en/Student_projects/Usability_issues/Metacourses I made a list of the various resource and activities and comparison how groups are either relevant or not for each of them. The table included the columns activity, group modes, visibility, category and relevance (if it is relevant or not that they have / don't have group modes, visibility or category functionality). Next some inconsistencies have been mentioned together with some guidelines for developers.

As for the question that is is mentioned above, I don't see that metacourses don't implement group modes. As I see it, they implemented them in the same extension that normal courses do.
