Back in the 80's the currency in Peru changed from Soles (S/.) to Intis (I/.), but later in the 90's this was changed again to Nuevos Soles which maintained the old currency symbol S/.

Moodle still is stuck back in the 80's in this respect, I know it is fashionable to be retro, but you guys ought to get with the times. It ain't the 80's anymore
