Description

Choose an Initial Page field does not display until Wiki has been saved (created) once.

This makes the feature rather redundant as the idea is that the content in the text file selected is the the content of the initial page when the wiki is initially created - or at least that's how it works up until v. 1.7.x

Also when the settings page is revisited once the wiki has been saved, when a file is chosen in the course files area to create the initial page content it does not populate the initial page. The initial page is empty and opened for editing.

This seems like a really fundamental problem with the default wiki in 1.8 and I hope would be addressed urgently. It makes the wiki module unusable for very common student tasks - such as starting from a template supplied by the teacher. Is anyone actively looking at this issue? Does anyone know of a workaround in the meantime?

Still not working...

I can get this feature to work in Student mode. Otherwise it's broken.

Same on Linux server, PHP 5.2.3, mySql 5.0.27, 1.8.2+

(Correction: Ok in student mode even with .txt extension)

Nick, can you please sort this out. Please wear flame-retardant safety goggles when spelunking in the wiki code.

The initial page field was disabled for wikis with no entries, making it rather useless. It is now always enabled.

I am using Moodle 1.9 (stable release from the 16th April) in a XAMPP environment: XAMPP 1.5.5; PHP 5.2.0; MySQL 5.0.27.

When I create a wiki and select a folder and a file in it as the initial page, the page appears with lots of bugs. Also the other initial pages, to which the one I selected before has links, do not appear filled out. Their names appear on the first page, as hyperlinks followed by question marks.

In some cases - and I can't make out the differences that lead to those - the initial page appears as a blank, unedited page or, in the worst case, the wiki doesn't open at all and the browser is redirected to a http://www.c2.com/cgi/wiki? address that never opens.
