Description

Courses that are "not available to students" are also not visible to the course teacher.

we have/had this problem with 1.7.2

but i found this:

Jeff Wood found the solution to this:

Site Administration > Users > Permissions > Define roles

Teacher Role - Edit - Course area

Change moodle/course:viewhiddencourses from inherit to allow

and it works!

We too had this issue (1.9.2+), and the problem was easily resolved by editing the user role permissions as listed by Andrea Marks. What I don't know is what the default, out-of-the-box behavior is. It really should be to allow this viewing or else the text in the help link beside the course availability drop-down in the course -> settings config page needs to be changed to accurately represent default behavior.
