A lot of our instructors requested such feature, which I think would really increase moodle's usability A LOT. If we could add an option under the "Common Module Settings" when creating a new assignment to allow instructors to enable/disable automatic email notification after they graded a certain assignment, that would be great! Thanks!

I assume that this is automatic notification to students...

+1 (but not in the common module settngs group).

Unfortunately this requires changes in assignment table - not allowed in stable branch

Laia - Even if this issue is resolved for the assignment module, I would be curious to do a comparison of how email notification might be used in the other modules as well. I know that I have on my to do list something similar for the database module. So more research would be helpful. My general sense is that once the option was made available for a couple of modules the expectation is that such functionality should be available for all of them. I am curious about the various types of email notification (i.e. to teacher, to student, to parent or other custom role) and under which conditions (creation of something like the submittal of an assignment, completion of quiz, add an entry to the database; or editing/modifying an entry such as a database entry or wiki page; removal or deletion of something; when something is rated or commented on). Again, I think stepping back and looking at the big picture about the various ways that email notifications are being used in Moodle and under which circumstances could be helpful in identifying other areas and modifications that might be helpful.
