Grading of assignments does not allow selecting by group

Description

The grading of assignments does not allow selecting by group anymore. This used to work in previous version < 1.8.

Peter-Anne Wissema attended me to this seeming bug. When an assignment is added and student from different groups (also tested with different groupings) hand in work (I tested this with the upload file assignment type), the teacher (and also the administrator) can no longer choose to just see the students from one group/grouping. This was an essential feature in groupwork where for example only one of the students in each group needs to hand something in.

Is this a bug, is it changed functionality or am I doing something wrong?

I have the same problem. I can sort by groups but when grading "Save and Next" does not respect this group setting.

On top of the list should be a button wich allows a teacher to select a group.
It is not there anymore

Michael and P.A. - I do not think this is a bug. Could you check your course settings and make sure that you have groups set to either visible or separate. I thought the same thing had happened in the gradebook but if the course setting is set to No Groups then the options for groups disappears. I am attaching a screenshot of my own 1.8+ install with production data that shows the button. If that is the case, then I can set the status of this issue to Not a Bug. Peace - Anthony

Martin - One solution might be that instead of not displaying anything about groups if they are not being used to display a message in that same area indicating something like "No Groups In Use". That would at least tip the user off to the fact that they may want to setup groups and lead them to the course settings page. Peace - Anthony

in the latest stable built the problem seems to be solved allready. Your idea about that no groups - field is good, but maybe something like "All Users" is more obvious, teachers who want to filter clearly see that there's just aone option , option all users and not groupe, so he/she has to define them.
Within gradebook i'm constantly sent back to all users, ie after selecting one group, then show categories, i get all users; when the other way round, first categories then group, i don't get categories for that group.

I am not sure when this bug was fixed, but I am triaging the bugs that I added and this one is definitely solved now.
