Description

I have tried to access a PDF file in the same window. I initially get a message that states "Press Spacebar or Enter to activate and use this control. After doing what is instructed, the file will not open in the same window. The work around is having it open in a new window. I am using the Moodle 1.8+ build downloaded on 5-6-07.

Could you please provide more information about the browser(s) and browser version(s) you are using? By the message you are getting, it appears to be Internet Explorer, but I haven't managed to reproduce this bug with any version of IE (3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6 and 7).

I was using IE 7.0. It was working when I was I had Moodle 1.7 installed as well as the earlier versions of Moodle 1.8.

I also have a tried it in FireFox 2. I am getting a "This operation is not allowed" message.

I have noticed that I get an image icon as it tries to load. In addition, it does not appear to go into a frame mode like it normally did. I have placed a picture of my screen so you can see the problem.

Same problem here. It all stems from having PDFs as embedded objects. This causes a lot more trouble than it's worth.

I had the same issue under Safari 3.0.4 (Mar, 2008). It seems it was caused by an old version of Adobe reader. Once I upgraded Adobe reader (and restarted the browser) the problem went away.

Issue is due to IE7/Adobe reader incompatibility. Resolved by new option to force download of file instead of embedding.

This seems to be a problem in Firefox 3.x as well. I would like to be able to open pdf files in a separate window so the solution of forcing a download is not ideal.
