Hi Helen,

can you check http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=96742

It looks like file backup-features-20060925-0911.zip gets broken if you try to download or open it in Internet Explorer. Firefox, Opera or Safari have no problems. It is not a local problem of my IE7 or IE8 either because the file downloaded with Firefox works ok and can be downloaded from my test site with the same IE. I suspect some odd setting of moodle.org or demo course might cause this failure.

Hi Mauno,

Thanks for your comment. I have replied to the discussion. I realise that the Moodle Features Demo course update should be completed ASAP

The Features Demo is really moving in a good direction. It has my attention beyond the Lesson Module.

I am finding little errors and improvements. But I think the slightly flawed "improved" demo is "more better" in Nov 2008, than the previous. A great collective job.

I especially like the link in every section back to MoodleDocs. Note: This could also be done via a HTML link in the topic description, including a link to the appropriate forum. Perhaps using a webpage (Documentation and Forums) instead of link to a web page, just an idea.

Adding student data is a good idea. Sam.... well if we can have a Samantha... I favor the old Student Demo, then add Student One, and Student Two, gender neutral, except for their picture (surprise!).

Also wonder if we could somehow call attention to the media features we are demonstrating. I was happy to see a mp3 file in Quiz, there are several demo's of linking to pictures, I am sure I will find a Flash file. Why make people look for media file and formatting examples? Maybe a good use for either a Wiki or a database?

I have so many good things to say about the "new" features demo. I already see things I only suspected. Wow!

Best Chris

Comment from Anthony Borrow - 18/Nov/08 01:40 AM (copied from MDLSITE-476)

Thanks for the update Helen. All looks good, the only thing I would encourage changing would be the resource section. There is a label but I would let folks know that it is a label. Also, it would be good to have a text page, display directory, and possibly even add IMS content package. That way the demo course shows one example of each type of activity and resource. Peace - Anthony

Thanks everyone for your comments

I'd like the updated Features Demo course to be improved further until we're all happy with it, and then encourage people to translate it into other languages.

One of my aims is to keep the course as simple as possible, since it's impossible to demonstrate ALL of Moodle's many features in just one course, and other courses on http://demo.moodle.org/ with lots of user data will most likely demonstrate features far better than the Features Demo course.

Chris, do you prefer Student One and Student Two or Sam Student and Leslie Learner? I'd like the students to have cool profile pictures. Any chance you could help me find some? (They would have to be GPL.) One of your previous profile pictures would be super-cool!

Anthony, I decided to reduce the number of resource examples to reduce the emphasis on resources when compared to activities. New teachers seem to have no problem adding lots of resources to their courses! Anyway, I'll add a label and a directory, and I'm happy to add an IMS content package if you can help me find one

Any more suggested improvements to the features demo course (whilst keeping it as simple as possible!)? Otherwise I'll resolve this issue soon.
