The front page needs something like 'noobs click here' and then a brief outline of what a course management system actually *does*. Many/most people I talk to about moodle say something like "That sounds great. What is it exactly again?".

When I first used moodle, it was several days before I really grasped what it was all about and the topmost resource in the using moodle course is not helpful at all as it assumes a lot of prior knowledge. An introductory video would be great - did GHOP make anything suitable?

Hi Matt,

As mentioned in your forum discussion http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=91683 we're planning some major improvements to Moodle.org. These will include a page describing what Moodle is/does - see http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:Moodle.org_About for the suggested text.

Comments on the suggested text would be appreciated. Please use the corresponding talk page in the documentation.
