Just curious, what would be the focus of this site (dev.moodle.org) and have we done some sort of "need assessment" or something to identify the needs first? Thanks!

Good question, Wen.

This actually came from these needs:

1) We need somewhere to permanently host the Developer course that you developed with Joan
2) We need to coordinate some of the GSOC and GHOP activities and demonstrate what using Moodle is like to students (see discussion among mentors http://docs.moodle.org/en/Development:GSOC_mentoring )
3) We need to provide some testing/development space on a safe (separate) server.
4) Overall need to help all "new" Moodle developers in a way that is consistent (regardless of the program)

At the moment it's really targeted to be a safe space for new developers that helps them get into using all the other tools like Tracker, moodle.org forums, CVS, Developer Chat room etc ... I don't see the forums on Using Moodle changing ... I think it's crucial that developers and users be forced to live together there somewhat.

Congratulations! Now that the dev.moodle.org is up and running I guess maybe we could close this ticket now..

Martin, thanks a lot for creating dev.moodle.org. The Moodle Programming course currently has over 300 participants!
