Description

At the moment one is able to limit the advanced search in the Moodle forums to the subject of a post.

However, this will also list all of the replies to a certain topic as most people don't change the subject line when replying to a post.

It would be helpful to be able to limit your search to only the first post of such a thread, that is when someone introduces a new discussion topic.

[EDIT]
I just thought I found a clever workaround by putting "re:" in the field "These words should NOT be included", but the result wasn't as expected (see screen shots). It seems that you can't combine both restrictions. (If that's the case, that would be another issue.)

The workaround described above seems to work now (though don't know why).

Created two new search plugins for Firefox which use this workaround to only search for new discussions (e.i. without "Re:" in the subject line):

It would be nice if there would be a check-box in the advanced search form for not displaying the replies to the original post in search results.
When searching forum(s) for some keyword, this keyword is also often found in (most of) replies to the original post in a thread that is not relevant to the search. Piles of replies to irrelevant threads thus hide the relevant hits. By being able to see in search results just the original posts, the user can quickly assess weather the topic found is relevant.
