Guidelines for on completing ChristmasReview 2008
Subject Teacher Instructions
The raison d'etre of thereview system is that each subject teacher speaks individually to studentsabout targets and progress. i.e . It's the conversationthat is important! Please set aside time in your lessons over the next few daysto do this
- Attendance and punctuality data will be already populated and will refer to the periodof 8th September until 7th Nov inclusive. If there is aglaring error, with attendance data please speak to Stuart Randall
- Minimum Target Grade . This is a clear statement of the minimum grade wewould expect the student to achieve based on their GCSE grades on entry. It is setcentrally, but staff may decide to increase (but not decrease) the minimumtarget grade if there is evidence that a higher grade is more appropriate. For GCSE courses the minimum target gradewill be set as a 'C'. Where nomeaningful regression data exists course teams should decide and enter the targets.
- Current Performance Grade . This isthe subject teacher's professional judgement of the grade the student is mostlikely to achieve should they continue to work at their current rate andeffectiveness. This judgement should bebased on robust assessment, preferably using examining board standards and markschemes or assignments. This grade canbe a 'U' or 'Fail' where accurate assessment supports that view.
- Behaviour, Effort and Quality of work are chosen from a drop down menuof Excellent, Good, Satisfactory , Some concerns and Unsatisfactory.
N.B. 'Some concerns' is not asserious as 'Unsatisfactory', and will not have
such serious consequences
Behaviour - refers tobehaviour in class i.e. Disruptive, Not attendance as
the percentage speaks for itself
Effort - refers to both effort in class and number of homeworks produced
Quality of work -refers to work actually completed, is it at MTG standard
- Homeworkcompleted shouldbe a fraction which represents a cumulative total from the beginning of theterm e.g.6/6. Less than 80% homework isunsatisfactory .
- An optional comment box has been provided. It is optional!!!
- Youcan add records of missing students by using the Add new Student button and print class sets usingthe Printrecord button
- Left Course box - Students not current on your course can be identified by selecting one of thetwo choices, Left college or Left course. This column will be hidden whenreports are printed out for parents, but will be used by SSMs for tidying up course lists.
