Overview
The current assignment grader was identified as an area of significant user confusion and containing a large number of usability issues. It is also contains a large concentration of YUI code which needs to be removed. As the YUI code requires a complete page rebuild this also provides an opportunity to rethink this UI and how it works for users. Learnings from the Forum Grader work will be used as part of the bases of this along with the the research from IDEA-206
Objectives
- Research and reimagine the grader UI
- Removeal of all YUI code from the page
- Technically assess the current solution and consider if there are ways to achieve greater consistency between activities with similar grading needs.
Note, the PDF conversion process that sits behind the grader will be dealt with in a seaparte piece of work.

Initial research to understand existing user needs and validate assumptions has commenced.
19/11/2024
Several round of user feedback and research including engagement with the LMS PAG has been performed. Thanks to all the community members who have contributed to this. The designs for the new grader are almost complete and will be ready for development soon. This work is currently blocked by the LTI experience improvements Phase 2 (IDEA-163) due to team resourcing and priorities and development will commence when the bulk of this is delivered. Some small work will be completed in the mean time.
